Smidgens
I meet your family.
The toothless, the fairy
The hobbit, and the biker.
And I don’t know why
I feel at home
While needing to escape
To the library
You meet my family.
The munchkin, the brain
The witch, and the calculator.
And you don’t know why
You feel at home.
We meet at the library.
(You are allowed to fill in the underlined with your own version.)
I meet your family
But I never feel at home
The smug, the crash
the cleanliness and the not so brave
I cannot escape though
and long for dessert
I invite you to my family
as you enter my home.
The unsure, the quiet
the mess and the bitter cold
And then you serve up
my just dessert

What a great way to stir up parodies, Elan! Bravo!
I meet your family.
The bigamist, the ex-cop,
The angry saint, the one in the closet.
And I don’t know why
I feel at home
While needing to escape
To the nearest rollercoaster.
You meet my family.
The clean freak, the sly farter,
The Valedictorian, the almost-twins
And you don’t understand how
I could possibly be related to them
We meet at Cedar Point.

I meet your family.
The suit, the swindler
The surgeon, and the liar.
And I don’t know why
I feel at home
While needing to escape
to the woods.
You meet my family.
The sycophant, the boozer
The embezzler , and the hoarder.
And you don’t know why
You feel at home.
We meet at the sawmill.

You should write in that option.

The last line was the best; how glad to meet someone who would escape to the library… though I might have gone to the museum/gallery instead.

I meet your family,
the mad one, the hooka smoker,
the enraged queen and the one who just grins
It feels familiar,
and I need time with you
through the looking glass.
You meet my family,
and there’s fewer of them
mostly have been left behind
by choice
when I fell down the rabbit hole.
Thanks this was fun!

And you don’t know why
You feel at home
while needing to escape
We meet ashore.

I don’t think I need to replace any of the aforementioned underlines; you seem to have described all my family as well as all those I happened to meet along the way….:)

The preacher, the teacher
The prankster, and the robber.
And I don’t know why

The bitch, and the vampire.

You feel at home.

My Dear Trickster – if I may! 😀 😀 😀
I read your poem and I discovered to my great joy that in every line it was to my mind as if I had indeed entered a new street and still there it was stood with valiant declaration – my Home! 😀 😀
“And then we did indeed go to the library!” 😀 Exceptional and one that I shan’t forget that easily! 😀
Mazzy 😀 😀 😀
