Smidgens
There are cruel winters, cruel summers……
You accept them as best you can
Bear them with disgruntled perseverance
Holding inside a small ache, an annoyance…….
Occasionally you yell at the weather……
A healthy madness, a mild mania…….
The day does not hear your voice…….
You shovel snow from sidewalks
Wipe the sweat from your brow
Waiting for temperate relief
A new climate of reason……
You even pray for the return
Of an older compassionate forecast…….
The meteorologist smiles at this…….
For now…….. you must
Blow heat into your hands
Hide inside your air conditioning……..
You reminded me of a quote.-
“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”
― Albert Camus

It is good to have company on a cold winter night. Particularly in a cold political climate. Brrr.

Is just me, or did anyone read a political meaning into this piece?

I can relate. We get snow from the beginning of November. I never complain about heat, no matter how hot or humid it gets.

Weather is a fickle thing isn’t it ! I have lived in places where on half of my house it was raining and the other it was complete sunshine!
