I’m reading Jeremy Robert Johnson’s short story anthology Entropy in Bloom. This illustration goes perfectly with one if its stories, “Cathedral Mother”. I recommend it.
I love this drawing, and Yes, I used to climb trees when I was about that age. Enjoyable, privacy, and no one could reach me except my sister who was already in the tree. I was safe.
The mystery of the face is delightful

Climbing trees was a fun activity for our children in the backyard. It gave them a sense of power just like your woman-king must feel in your drawing.
